Intelligences
What is intelligence?
Intelligence is a very complex word with many different sides of meanings and different traits. Intelligence is a person that expresses his/her life in the many character traits that we are taught from preschool all the way to grade 12 for many different tasks and situations. For example, citizenship, integrity, perseverance, responsibility, honesty, and so on. Anyone can be intelligent if they are ambitious for success in whatever they dream of.
The MI test was a very interesting learning and life experience, knowing more about yourself is very relevant to ones' life! The multiple intelligences test is based on theory on Howard Gardner's MI model, that was developed in 1983 and stated as follows:
- Linguistic intelligence (“word smart”)
- Logical-mathematical intelligence (“number/reasoning smart”)
- Spatial intelligence (“picture smart”)
- Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence (“body smart”)
- Musical intelligence (“music smart”)
- Interpersonal intelligence (“people smart”)
- Intrapersonal intelligence (“self smart”)
Everyone can be smart or intelligent in their own way like the ways above! After experimenting the MI test, I have realized many different characteristics about myself that I would have never thought of. According to the score statements in Gardner's theory, I would give his model a level 4 which means I mostly agree with this statement.
The results to my MI test were pretty incredible and unexpected! As you see on the list above, these are the seven categories of intelligences, so if someone is tested on their IQ, it dosen't really mean much to what their abilities actually are. In my case, I was asked 35 questions about my personality and life regarding each of those various categories. At the end, I was asked to add up each column and put the total number next to the topic. My results turned out to be true, in first place we've got "Bodily-Kinesthetic" which means that I move around consistently and is always enthusiastic which will develop my future job to be one of the following: actor, athlete, adventurer, or even a ergonomist ( meaning according to freedictionary.com: The applied science of equipment design, as for the workplace, intended to maximize productivity by reducing operator fatigue and discomfort. Also called biotechnology, human engineering, human factors engineering.) In second place we have "Interpersonal" which means that I am a very social and outgoing person that likes to be accompanied always and my future potentials are, leader, president, therapist, teacher, doctor, etc. And last but not least, in third place we have "Logical-Mathematical", personally, I really appreciate this category because I already have my life sorted out and most of my dreams fall under this type of intelligence. I want to study Bio-Medical Engineering in Imperial College (god willing) and if I have the logical math intelligence, I am ready to take off. Other preferences that I can get out of "reasoning smart" is, computer expert, scientist, director, accountant, banker, insurance broker and much more.
Extension:
As Albert Einstein once said: "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life thinking it was stupid." This is a really important quote that everyone should know about, it is explained thoroughly in one of the amazing society talkers "Prince EA". Another amazing quote from Albert Einstein roughly explains the meaning of intelligence: "The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination." Thats why all the 35 questions asked were asked about our everyday life and have nothing to do with education, opinions only matter.
